Derek earned a bachelor’s of fine arts at SUNY-Purchase and has exhibited his works in New York in group shows at the Bowery Gallery and the Prince Street Gallery. He has exhibited at the Micro Museum in Brooklyn, among many other. “My paintings are about the beauty of color, geometry, cleanliness and accuracy,” Derek said. “I use flat-colored rectangles and lines to create both sparse and simple, and highly complicated works. … The paints are snapshots of the forms moving through space, implying where they came from and suggesting where they are going.” More art can be found at www.derekleka.com.
