ClassTech provides financial support for full time continuing or tenured faculty to develop innovative, creative pedagogy in their classes using new technology.  All kinds of technology and approaches are welcome.

 

How might we incorporate the digital media in our student’s lives into the classroom experience?  The possibilities include the creative use of

 

·         Blogs

·         Text messaging

·         Class file sharing

·         Web publishing

·         Instant messaging

·         Hypertext narrative

·         Web assisted class

·         On line discussion

·         Web ethics

·         On line group projects

·         HTTP based lit reviews

·         Visual literacy software

·         Social networking

·         HTTP based portfolios

·         Course media literacy

·         Course video games

·         Developing user skills

·         Research skills

 

 

Process

 

1.  Spring semester:  Faculty members interested in a ClassTech project submit a proposal to the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching . This program is for innovations using technologies already existing in our system (not to purchase new equipment or programs).

 

2.  Proposals are reviewed by a committee composed of CELT advisory committee members, who will invite expertise when necessary.  Up to five grants will be awarded for the academic year.

 

3.  A decision regarding proposals will be made by Summer session following and the applicants will be informed (by August 1).

 

4.  The proposal is put into use in a Fall class.

 

5.  In the Spring semester, the grantee makes a presentation on the experience and receives a $2,000 grant.
