Eric Lewis
Professor of Music
Applied Violin, Chamber Music, History of Music, Symphony Orchestra
Eric Lewis received his early training at The Manhattan School of Music where he received Bachelor and Master performance degrees, studying with Rachmael Weinstock. The urging of his chamber music coaches, Weinstock and Lillian Fuchs, launched his career with the formation of The Manhattan String Quartet in 1968 as the resident ensemble of The Manhattan School of Music. Recordings of the quartet are available on the Musical Heritage Society, Centar, Newport Classics, and SONY labels. As Professor of Music at Western Connecticut State University, Mr. Lewis also maintains a busy teaching schedule, coaching young professional chamber ensembles and training young violinists for performing and teaching careers.
He has given over 1000 concerts especially for children.
