WCSU Supports Newtown
Western Connecticut State University and its family of students, faculty, staff and administrators share the community's and the nation's grief over the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The victims were our neighbors and friends.
Unfortunately, I must convey the news that our university community has been directly touched by the awful news. It was with immeasurable sadness that we learned of two victims with close ties to Western. Our friend and colleague Jimmy Greene has suffered the loss of his daughter, Ana. Nursing student Thomas Murphy also lost his mother, Anne Marie Murphy, a teacher's aide at the school.
We will be at their sides to do all we can to help them and their families through this unfathomable tragedy.
