WestConn picked to finish seventh in NJAC Pre-Season Coach's Poll
Union, NJ - (Aug 5, 2008) - The Western Connecticut State University football team has been picked to finish in seventh place by the 10 coaches of the New Jersey Athletic Conference at the annual NJAC Media Day on Tuesday.
The Colonials, 4-6 overall and 2-5 in league action last season, open the 2008 regular season under the lights at The WAC on Friday, September 12 against their only non-league opponent Albright College. Kick off is slated for 7 p.m.
SUNY Cortland topped this year's poll and garnered seven first-place votes. Montclair State University followed in second place and captured a first-place vote. Rowan University (one first-place vote), The College at Brockport, The College of New Jersey (one first-place vote) and Kean University follow in third through sixth position. Brockport, one of two new members to the NJAC in 2008, was selected as the"Dark Horse" for the upcoming season.
The Colonials are followed by Buffalo State, William Paterson and the league's other newcomer Morrisville State in the eighth, ninth and 10th slots.
