Football adds two assistants to coaching staff

DANBURY, CT - Aug. 13 - Former WestConn players Greg Schwarz and Greg Boucher have been added to the Western Connecticut State University football coaching staff, announced Head Coach John Burrell this week.

Greg Schwarz enters his first season with his alma mater, serving as the Dog Linebackers Coach this fall.

Prior to joining the staff at WestConn, Schwarz spent the past three seasons as the Defensive Line Coach for nearby Immaculate High School.

As a Colonial from 1998 to 2001, Schwarz served as a three-year starter at defensive tackle, contributing to two Freedom Football Conference Championships. During his career, he amassed 68 total tackles.

Schwarz earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Central Connecticut State University.

Greg Boucher was one of the top defensive linemen in the Freedom Football Conference during his career from 1998 to 2001. He captained the Colonials in his final season.

Over his collegiate career, he earned numerous post-season accolades including being a four-time First-Team All-Freedom Football Conference selection, two-time FFC Defensive Player of the Year, three-time Football Gazette All-American honoree and was selected to play in the coveted Aztec Bowl, the Division III All-Star game played in Mexico.

He graduated with several defensive school records including most quarterback sacks for a game (4), season (12) and career (27.5). Over four season, Boucher amassed 345 total tackles.

Boucher will take over as the Defensive Line Coach, filling the position held by Larry Badaracco, who moved over to coach the offensive line this season.
