Anchormen fall to WestConn 8-1 in men's tennis

PROVIDENCE, RI (Apr. 13) — Freshman Nate Lee (Bar Harbor, ME) earned a straight set win at No. 6 singles, but it was the lone bright spot as the Rhode Island College men's tennis team was defeated, 8-1, by Western Connecticut in Little East Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at the RIC Tennis Courts.

Lee scored a (6-4, 6-1) victory, but the Colonials swept the remaining five singles matches and took all three in doubles action.

WestConn sophomore Troy Pandolfi (Danbury, CT) led the way with a straight set (6-2, 6-1) win at No. 1 singles, while pairing with junior John Phillips (Hartford, CT) for an 8-2 win at the top doubles position.

Phillips also scored a straight set (6-0, 6-2) win of his own at No. 3 singles.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Springfield College tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m.
