WestConn men's tennis wins 10th straight with win over Bridgewater State
BRIDGEWATER, MA - (Apr. 29)— The WestConn men's tennis team remained perfect with a 7-2 victory over Bridgewater State College at Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon.
The Colonials improve to 10-0 overall and 5-0 in the Little East Conference. On Saturday, they host Salem State College, which is 6-7 overall and deadlocked with WestConn atop the LEC standings at 5-0. The winner of Saturday's will be crowned regular-season champion and will host the LEC Tournament Final Four next Friday and Saturday, May 7 and 8. The duo with the Vikings begins at 1 p.m.
On Thursday, the Colonials won five of six singles matches including Troy Pandolfi's (Danbury, CT) ninth straight victory over the season. He defeated Matthew Mailhot, 6-2, 6-2 at the top singles position.
Pandolfi and John Phillips (Hartford, CT) teamed up to defeat Armindo Rocha and Justin Lipomi, 8-5 at number one doubles.
Sophomore Juan Ocampos (Danbury, CT) returned to action after missing the last two matches with an injury. After dropping the first set to Adam Laithy, Ocampos rebounded and cruised to a 1-6, 6-0, 6-1 victory at number three singles.
The Little East Conference Tournament begins on Tuesday, May 4 with quarterfinal matches at the highest three seeds. The highest remaining seed after the first round will host the semifinals and championships. All times of the Tournament will be determined on Sunday or early on Monday.
