Faculty Biographical Sketches

Daryle L. Brown, Department of Nursing

Dr. Daryle Brown joined the WestConn Nursing full-time faculty in fall 2003 as an Associate Professor. Dr. Brown received her BSN from Kent State University in Kent, OH. She received her M.A., M.Ed., and Ed.D. from Teachers College Columbia University with a major in nursing education/medical-surgical nursing/adult health/professorial role. She comes to WestConn after 23 years of teaching nursing at a private, suburban university where she held various positions as a full-time faculty member (i.e., teaching in associate degree (AD), baccalaureate degree (BSN) and combined degree (CDP) nursing programs, and served as chair of the AD Nursing program, and as Associate Dean of the department of undergraduate nursing. Dr. Brown’s areas of research include mathematic competencies of beginning baccalaureate degree nursing students and faculty-student interactions that promote diversity. She has published and presented on both topics. Dr. Brown is currently a member of the Kent State University Alumni Association, Kent State University School of Nursing Alumni Association, Connecticut Nurses’ Association where she serves on the Editorial Board, and American Nurses’ Association. She was selected for inclusion into Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 1998 and 2002.
