Faculty Biographical Sketches

Laurel Halloran, Department of Nursing

Dr. Laurel Halloran, who is a Professor of Nursing, has been on the faculty at WCSU since 1986. She received her BSN from Georgetown University, MSN from Hunter College of City University of New York, PhD from the University of Connecticut and a Post Masters Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Pace University. Dr. Halloran is double Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and an Adult Medical/Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist. She maintains an active clinical practice in Pulmonology and Family Practice. Dr. Halloran has been widely published in areas ranging from graduate education to orthopedics. Her main research interest is in caring in nursing education. She has presented finding of her research regarding this issue at numerous international, national, state and local conventions.  Dr. Halloran is also on the Editorial Board of Advance for Nurse Practitioners and is the author of their monthly Career Center column.
