Faculty Biographical Sketches

Jeffrey Schlicht, Department of Physical Education

Dr. Jeff Schlicht is an Assistant Professor of Health Promotion and Exercise Sciences. He completed his BA degree in Psychology at the University of California in San Diego, his MA degree in Physical Education at San Diego State University, and his Ph.D. degree in Exercise Science at the University of Connecticut (1999).

His areas of interest and research include the health benefits associated with physical activity and exercise and gerontology. His past research projects have examined the effect of high- and moderate-intensity strength training programs for older adults, and the risks and benefits of stability ball training for older adult populations. He has published several articles in the physical education field, and contributes as an editorial review board member for the American College of Sports Medicine’s Health and Fitness Journal.

Dr. Schlicht is the creator and director of the Center for Lifetime Fitness at WestConn, coordinating older adult activity classes in community settings. The center currently serves more than 50 older adults in the Danbury area.
