Quincy J. Vagell - Meteorology Student

Quincy came to Western Connecticut State University in 2005 to pursue a nearly life-long dream of becoming a professional meteorologist. After training in the Weather Center in the fall of that year, he began working the weekend shifts. He has been employed as the weekend meteorologist ever since, as he continues into his Junior year of study in the spring of 2008.

Perhaps one of his most enjoyable work days in the Weather Center, was during the Blizzard of 2006. He was asked to work both shifts that day and came in early as well. Snowfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour were common during the storm and in addition to the regular duties, he sent several updated fax reports to local clients to release the most up-to-date information on the intense snow storm.

Quincy's involvement with the Weather Center has not stopped at forecasting. He has become the unofficial "Weather Center Events Coordinator", sponsoring, organizing and helping develop presentations, discussions and meetings on revelent topics in Meteorology. His plan is to spark interest, share ideas and drive motivation, all in hopes to strengthen the Meteorology Department.

In addition to being a Student Meteorologist at WestConn, he has also had forecasting experience with National Environmental and Meteorological Association (NEMAS), a non-profit volunteer forecasting agency.
